Sylvia joined McDowell Group in 2018, specializing in public health and health promotion. Sylvia brings experience working in the non-profit sector of Alaska’s health and social services landscape to McKinley Research. Prior to joining McDowell Group, Sylvia worked for the Alaska Injury Prevention Center as a Projects Director where she was involved with the design, implementation, and evaluation of local and statewide injury prevention efforts. Sylvia is a member of the American Evaluation Association, Alaska Evaluation Network, and the Alaska Public Health Association.
Sylvia holds a Master of Public Health from San Diego State University and a bachelor’s degree in English from Furman University. Sylvia has lived in Alaska most of her life with family ties to Ketchikan, Cordova, Valdez, Fairbanks, and the Copper River Valley. Outside of the office, Sylvia enjoys running and exploring Anchorage area parks with her husband and French Bulldog.
