A final draft of McDowell Group's State of Alaska Seafood Economic Strategies was submitted to Governor Frank Murkowski on December 1, 2006. Please follow the instructions below to download the draft report.
The draft State of Alaska Seafood Economic Strategies represents a year-long research and consultation effort focusing on commercial seafood management and market issues both in Alaska and globally. The recommendations include rationales and strategies to guide long-range direction and action by the State in order to satisfy the Alaska Constitution's mandate that natural resources be managed for the "maximum benefit of its (Alaska's) people."
The strategies address the state's efforts in all aspects of its commercial fisheries involvement, including biological and socioeconomic management, education, marketing, infrastructure investment, and other areas. The strategies do not prescribe or anticipate business strategies for the industry, nor do they make recommendations on specific regions, fisheries, or allocations. The project does not address subsistence or sport fishing.
